Future Goals:
Since our foundation as a primary school over 50 years ago, Helene van Rhijn strives for excellence and aspires to provide quality education for all students. Our current focus is on policies, practices, and amenities to enhance the school, community, and family. We believe family and community play a crucial role addressing barriers to learning, engagement of students in the classroom and the promotion of healthy development. We are fortunate to have many friends and benefactors who support our school and continue to express interest and appreciation for our efforts to strengthen education, families, and communities. We feel blessed for all the resources we currently have at Helene van Rhijn, but we are always looking into how we can advance our school in the future. Currently, we have three main goals we are working on:
Computer Room:
Recently our school was donated a few computers to be used by both students and staff; however, with the lack of sufficient space we have yet to utilize this resource. As a developing school, we understand the importance and connection between technology and education. Therefore, our school sees it critical that we implement a computer room within our school to promote computer education for both students and staff.
“It is not about the technology; it’s about sharing knowledge and information, communicating efficiently, building learning communities and creating a culture of professionalism in schools. These are the key responsibilities of all educational leaders”. – Marion Ginapolis
Laboratory Equipment:
Helene van Rhijn is extremely grateful for our school laboratory along with the equipment we currently have. Unfortunately, over the years much of our equipment has been either broken or is now obsolete making it very difficult to conduct interactive experiments with the students. We lack many of the basic lab supplies which often hinders many learning opportunities for our students. We are exploring new ways in which Helene van Rhijn can fund new laboratory equipment therefore providing our students with the necessary resources to build a promising future.
Sports Field:
Here at Helene van Rhijn we pride ourselves in extra-curricular activities with our students. However, since the opening of the school we have struggled to create a sports field allowing kids to exercise and participate in school athletics. We hope to raise funds to incorporate an area allocated to the students for sports and other recreational events helping the students to grow physically as well as mentally.
