Historical Background of School:
The school was established in 1953 with Mr. T.G. Gericke as the first principal. The school was named after Mrs. Helene Van Rhijn, the wife of one of the first Administrator-Generals of our country, South West Africa, now Namibia. The school was established to cater for 150 learners of the white community. It consisted of two parts, the Pre-Primary and the Primary sections.
After independence the integration process started with the unification of various educational departments. All learners were enrolled irrespective of their race, color or creed. It was during these years that additional accommodation was required, to cater for the growing number of learners and demand for education.
Eight class rooms were rented from the Deutscher Schulverein. The first black learner to be admitted was , Randal Phillips, who came from Oranjemund on 17 July 1990, while Mrs. Nazeema Ngata was the first black teacher and Mr. Nicky Barth the first black principal. After independence the schools’ numbers were 49 learners for the primary section and 51 pre-primary. The enrollment numbers increased as from 1991 to the current total of 474 learners. Because of the constant and rapid growth of the school a totally new school was build in 2007. We moved into our new buildings on 26 January 2010.
